From Field to Face: A Great Pumpkin Facial

Pumpkin makes a great seasonal beauty product. Don't believe us? Give this facial recipe a try. Photo credit somegeekintn on Flickr.

As the weather changes, so does our skin. Our faces become drier the colder it gets outside. Most of us have already switched to a richer face cream for the fall and winter seasons.

One of my favourite things to do when I’m kicking it back on a weekday is to whip up a homemade, festive facial. So here is a recipe for one that will help exfoliate your skin and get rid of any dryness.

You’ll need:

  • A few tablespoons of cooked pumpkin (you can also used canned)
  • A pinch of cinnamon
  • A half teaspoon of honey
  • A half teaspoon of goat milk (you can use regular, soy or almond as well)

Mix all the ingredients and apply the mixture to your face for 15 minutes. Rinse thoroughly and apply your moisturizer to seal in the goodness.

The nice thing about this mask is that the pumpkin exfoliates while the cinnamon gets the blood to the surface, giving you that rosy glow. The mask may feel warm and even tingly for the first minute due to that. The honey moisturizes the skin and the milk nourishes, moisturizes and even exfoliates due to the alpha hydroxy in it.

Have a safe and beautiful Halloween!
