Tell us about your background and how you got started in your field.
I come from a very creative family — some of which are makeup artists. So I guess it was kind of expected. I got started when I was in high school when friends would come over way before 8 a.m. to get their makeup done. I loved it! It wasn’t until later on in life that I decided to pursue my dreams and get back to school.
What inspires you?
Everything! The creative people I work with, art, nature and animals!
Do you have any role models?
Madonna and Lady Gaga — these women have made it by being themselves and twisting their creativity.
What do you find most rewarding about your job?
Making the art come to life and teaching women to feel good about their beauty in and out.
What are you most proud of?
I’m most proud to be cruelty-free. I try to educate as many people as possible the importance of using products without testing and by-products. There have been so many cosmetic advancements that there is simply no need for cruelty.
Where do you see yourself in five years?
Working in fashion and film all over the globe.
Since CoCo & Rico is a local magazine, what is your favourite thing about Vancouver?
The talent pool here; it’s incredible what this city has to offer!
What would you do with a day off?
Spend time with my friends and family.
What’s your favourite product/gadget?
Mist and Fix from Make Up For Ever. It waterproofs everything on the skin… love it!
